BEGINNER BAGPIPES "NEW"
The bagpipes are an instrument of legend. We shed a tear when we hear them at funerals, and we cheer with joy when we hear them at a parade. This class is an opportunity for participants to start down the path to becoming a bagpiper and become part of this legend. NO PRIOR MUSICAL EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. Students will learn the parts of their practice chanter and basic maintenance, note fingerings, basic rhythms, embellishments, how to read their sheet music and a few basic songs. The instructor, Mackenzie Moloney, has played a number of instruments over the years and has focused on the bagpipes for the past five years. She currently plays with the Galloway Gaelic Pipes & Drums Band in South Glens Falls, New York.
A Materials Fee of $100 will be collected by the instructor at the start of the first class via cash or Venmo. This fee will cover the cost of the practice chanter instrument, two reeds and an exercise book, which she will provide for each student at the first class. Ages 16 and up. Students ages 12-15 years of age may register and attend, if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Limited to 16.
